Hello, everyone. My name is Leila, and I'm 13 years old. I come from a small town in Africa that is shrouded in the shadow of war. Once upon a time, there were bustling markets, schools filled with the laughter of children, and my beloved mango trees. But now, the rumble of shells has replaced the sounds of joy, and broken bricks litter the streets. My home was reduced to rubble in a bombing.
After the war broke out, my father sacrificed his life to protect us during a conflict. My mother, my younger brother, and I had to flee. We trekked across the desert to escape the war, but we had insufficient food and clean water along the way. My younger brother has become increasingly weak due to malnutrition and often collapses from exhaustion after walking just a few steps.
Now, we are huddled in a shabby tent with other refugees. At night, the cold wind blows in through the holes in the tent. I hold my younger brother tightly, but I can't keep his body warm. What's even more terrifying is that diseases are rampant here, and many children have lost their lives due to the lack of medical treatment. I'm so afraid that my younger brother will leave me too.
I used to be one of the top students in my school, and I dreamed of becoming a doctor one day to help children like my younger brother. But now, my textbooks were lost during our escape, and going to school has become an unattainable dream.
If you are willing to lend a helping hand, even the smallest contribution can bring hope for our survival. Your kind donations can buy us food and medicine, and also help build temporary schools for me and other children. Every act of kindness is a ray of light illuminating our dark lives.
Thank you to every kind-hearted person. May there be no more war in the world, and may warmth and peace fill every corner of the earth!
